MLD Base Consultation
Formal Consultation on the Proposed Opening of an MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) Base on the St Mark’s School Site for 1st September 2020
The governing body of St Mark’s School, Bath, initiated a six week consultation period on the proposed Opening of an MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) Base for seven pupils aged Year 7-11 on the St Mark’s School Site for 1st September 2020 on Monday 4th May 2020. The consultation ended on Sunday 14th June 2020 at midnight.
The resource base will mean that students with MLD will be able to access mainstream education where they receive a meaningful and personalised education while at the same time integrating within a mainstream setting. They will be taught by specialist staff who support students to learn in a non-threatening environment so that all students grow into independent, confident and competent learners who contribute to the school and wider community. The MLD base will allow us to access the funding, expertise and an environment in which we can provide these young people with the education that they deserve. The resource base will provide bespoke education for seven students at a time for students for whom the local authority would have ‘consulted’ the school over regarding their admission into the school through the Education Health Care Plan(EHCP) process.
As part of the consultation process a copy of the proposed Admissions policy was made available via the school website. An Impact Assessment has also been completed and can be accessed via the enclosed document. The consultation generated five responses in total, details of which can be accessed via the enclosed document. These documents will be available for viewing on the school website until 31st August 2020. Although the formal consultation has ended, we are still happy to accept comments from stake-holders and members of the local community via info@st-marks.org.uk FAO Clerk to the local governing body.
