Celebrating Students’ GCSE Accomplishments at St Mark’s, Bath
Students at St Mark’s, Bath, were celebrating today having received their GCSE results after years of hard work and study. We congratulate everyone on their well-deserved achievements
and would like to make a special mention of the many success stories, including:
Konrad I who gained 11 GCSEs significantly above target, including Grade 8s in Maths and French, and an A* in Further Maths.
Ryan P who gained 10 GCSEs, 9 of which are at the highest possible grades of 7-9, including a Grade 9 in History.
Josh W who gained 10 GCSEs, each significantly above his Target Grades, including a Grade 8 in English Literature and a Grade 7 in History.
Ben L who gained 10 GCSEs between Grades 6-8, including Grade 8s in Science, Music and Geography.
Rosie P Head Girl, who gained 11 GCSEs at grades 5-8, including a Grade 8 in Maths.
Lara B who gained 10 GCSEs at Grades 5-8, including Grade 8s in Maths and Statistics and a Grade A in Further Maths.
I would also like to mention a few other students who achieved well through continued hard work and dedication to their studies, despite different sets of challenges during their school careers:
Kawin J who achieved 10 GCSEs significantly above target.
Evie Y who achieved 9 GCSEs between Grades 5-7, including Grade 7s in English Language and RE.
Elis A who achieved 9 GCSE all of which are on or above her Targets, in particular, her English grades which are significantly above target which is testament to her hard work in her second language.
The school is thrilled that achievements in public examinations across the curriculum continue to demonstrate the school’s commitment to academic excellence. Students demonstrated their skills in a broad range of academic subjects, as highlighted below:
- Over 80% of our students achieved their Target Grade or above in Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and French, with a number achieving the highest possible Grades of 8 or 9.
- 73% of students in Art gained their Target Grade or above, 19% of these at Grades 7-9.
- There were also a number of successes in English and History with some students reaching the highest grades of 7-9.
The school’s Headteacher, Barnaby Ash, commented, “I am proud of our students’ achievements today. The pressures that young people face are varied and significant which is why we focus on developing students’ skills that allow them to succeed with their GCSE courses and beyond. Developing these skills is a fundamental part of learning at St Mark’s, Bath and ensures the students are able to thrive with their future endeavours. The students have demonstrated their resilience and resourcefulness to be able to perform and achieve such amazing results.”
