Italian-inspired cookery masterclass for Year 5 pupils
St Mark’s School are committed to working closely with our local primary
schools, sharing expertise and resources to the benefit of pupils, and supporting them with their transition into secondary school.
This term the school introduced a series of unique Red Letter Masterclasses aimed at providing Year 5 pupils with a wealth of knowledge, skills and experiences in food technology whilst offering a flavour of life at St Mark’s School.
The event was open to our feeder primaries with Batheaston, St Stephen’s, Wick and St Saviour’s pupils all joining us for a series of fun cookery workshop with former Food Technology teacher and now Governor at St Mark’s, Mrs Garven.
Pupils tested their culinary skills (and patience!) as they learnt how to make and knead dough, select healthy toppings and create a sumptuous pizza to take back to school in their very own pizza boxes.
Year 5 pupils enjoyed their taste of life at St Mark’s and the many opportunities and experiences on offer at the school.
Our thanks go to Mrs Garven for giving up her time to run the masterclasses and support our thriving primary liaison programme.
In the coming weeks we will also welcome Year 5 pupils from Batheaston Primary and St Saviour’s Junior School to take part in our ‘Going Bananas’ Enterprise Project with Mrs Wiltshire and Mrs Helyar.
