Students Showcase Talents at Bath Literature Festival
On Tuesday 2 March 2016, Year 8 students fromSt Mark’s were personally invited by the Learning and Participation Coordinator for Bath Festivals, to perform at the Creative Writing Programme launch event as part of Bath’s Literature Festival.
After six weeks of working with Rebecca Tantony, a literature artist and graduate of Bath Spa University, St Mark’s students delivered a confident performance at the local festival, demonstrating their co-ordination, creativity and communication skills.
Bath Festivals has recently been awarded a grant from the Arts Council to deliver a three year programme of creative writing in schools, led by Bath Spa University in partnership with Bath Festivals and the National Association of Writers in Education. The aim of the programme is to highlight the benefits of writers working with young people in our local schools.
Head of English at St Mark’s School, Bath, Stella Pakeman, commented: “The students were a credit to their school and the performance was testament to their hard work and dedication. We look forward to being part of the Creative Writing Programme in the future and being able to provide our students with exceptional opportunities that enhance our curriculum”.
