Christmas Community Spirit at St Mark’s
Year 4 pupils from St Saviour’s have recently joined dance students at St Mark’s for a series of choreography workshops in preparation for a performance at the annual St Mark’s Christmas party for senior citizens.
Working closely with trained dance specialist, Miss Gooding, over 50 pupils prepared for a festive performance at the event on Friday 4th December.
Since the event began in 1969, St Mark’s School has played host to over 5,000 local elderly residents by providing refreshments, entertainment, free raffles and a ‘surprise’ visit from Father Christmas.
The whole school community gets involved in the event from fundraising, catering, singing and serving to table decorations, making invitations and thank you cards. Local businesses also help to make the festivities go off in style through their donations of raffle prizes and a Christmas gift for everyone attending.
The dance workshops and final performance were an example of the school’s passion for working in partnership with their local community of schools whilst offering an insight into the many opportunities and experiences on offer at St Mark’s.
