Ofsted Praise St Mark’s School
I am delighted to inform you of the results of our latest Ofsted inspection and to announce that we were rated ‘Good’ in all categories, which we believe is testament to the notable progress we continue to make.
The inspection covered four key areas: leadership and management, behaviour and safety, quality of teaching and achievement of students. The positive impact the new Headteacher has had since his appointment this academic year was noted, with inspectors picking up on the unified vision shared by the Senior Leadership Team, as well as the ‘very effective challenge and support’ which our Governing Body provides on a daily basis.
Inspectors noted that our standards of attainment are ‘rising’, praising the high expectations teachers have and the broad, balanced curriculum we offer. The extracurricular activities available to students were also singled out for acclaim, as was the comprehensive careers advice every student receives in planning their route through education, training and employment.
Another extremely positive outcome of the inspection was the behaviour shown by our students. Our visitors observed the healthy respect they have for teachers and for each other, as well as the positive attitudes they show to their learning.
We are understandably pleased by this result, which is testament to the hard work and dedication our students and staff show on a daily basis. With momentum on our side and the school clearly on the up, we believe we are in an ideal position to continue improving over the coming months and years. Making the most of our small class sizes, plans are underway to provide every child with a personalised learning and careers programme which will set them on the path to future success. We will also be extending our extracurricular offering for primary school pupils, to support their transition to secondary school and provide them with unique enrichment opportunities.
If you have any queries regarding the above, or would like the opportunity to discuss the latest Ofsted further, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you – please contact Mrs Tracey Tigwell, the Headteacher’s PA, on 01225 478414 or email tigwellt@st-marks.org.uk to arrange an appointment.
Thank you once again for your valued support.
Barnaby Ash, Headteacher
