Spring Open Morning 20th March
New Headteacher at St Mark’s School, Mr Barnaby Ash, has organised a special Spring Open Morning this March for families considering their secondary school choices for their son or daughter in September 2015, and beyond, to September 2016.
On Friday 20th March from 9:00am–11:00am, parents/carers of pupils in Years 5 and 6 are invited to visit the school to meet Mr Ash. Student ambassadors will be on hand throughout the event to provide tours of the school in action and share their thoughts and experiences of St Mark’s School from a student’s perspective.
“Open Evenings and Mornings are a great way to get to know a school and find out all that it has to offer. They provide an insight into how a school works, its ethos and values and how it balances academic achievement with pastoral care that is supportive and nurturing,” said Mr Ash.
“We want to ensure that for local families, their search for a secondary school begins with St Mark’s and provides parents and carers with all of the information, support and guidance that they need to help them in their decision.”
“Our Spring Open Morning will provide families with children in Year 5 with an early opportunity to visit their local school and take a really good look at what it has to offer before the pressures of the traditional ‘Open Day Season’ in September and October.”
The event also provides an opportunity for families of Year 6 pupils to review their offer of a secondary school place ahead of the deadline for acceptance of school offers at the end of March.
“Choosing a secondary school place for your child is not a decision that any family makes lightly and I understand that sometimes it’s helpful to have an opportunity to review your selection and visit a school one last time before reaching a final decision,” Mr Ash, added.
“St Mark’s School is on an exciting journey to become one of the leading schools in the area, combining excellence in academic achievement with an enriching and fun-filled educational experience. As the new Headteacher of this school, I have first-hand experience of the warm and welcoming community at St Mark’s and have high ambitions for its future that I hope local families will be a part of.”
