Re-build Mexico
Students to Re-Build Mexico
Two students from St Mark’s are raising funds towards the trip of a lifetime in Easter 2014 to work on the ReBuild Mexico project with Urban Saints.
Urban Saints has teamed up with partners, Amor Ministries, in San Diego, California to build homes for some of the 800 000 Mexican families who lack a basic, secure place to live. Over 600 groups take part in short-term mission projects such as this one, each year.
Toby and Laurie need to each raise £1,300 to cover their costs of getting to Mexico. Once there, they will work as part of a team to build a new home for a Mexican family in need.
“We have already raised over £1000 towards the cost of the trip and hope that we may be able to encourage some sponsorship from the community of Bath to help us reach our target before February,” said Laurie.
ReBuild is an eleven-day experience, starting 10 April 2014, where the pair will build a new home for a poor family in Mexico, right from the foundations upwards, in a few short days using just hand tools! At the end of their visit, they will then hand over the keys and change one family’s lives forever.
They will also have the opportunity to experience church in a completely different culture, giving them both a chance to be stretched in their faith and grow in character whilst also sharing in the satisfaction of serving a community of people and the building work itself.
The pair have been busy baking cakes and cookies to sell to staff and students at St Mark’s School to help raise the money to make the trip possible.
If any parent, supporter or friend of St Mark’s would like to learn how they can help the boys in their efforts, please contact the main school office on 01225 312661.
